Light from the sun filtered in through her window as she awoke on the artificial satellite she'd been living on since Serenity had become Queen. The massive 2 foot tall, 4 foot Luna rose out of her nest of warm blankets and pillows, shaking her fur out. Stretching, she kneaded the carpet, then proceeded to groom herself, as her fur had gotten a bit wayward in her sleep.
Yawning, the royal advisor used her kitty box (Which she scooped herself) then padded out of her room, her large, but dainty paws making muted thuds upon the floor of the palace, her tail up and slightly curved at the end, her ears perked up as she made her way to the kitchens and was served brunch.
Afterwards, she groomed herself again to look presentable, and padded towards the throne room and jumped up onto her plushy cushion beside Serenity's throne and lay down in the 'loaf' position with her paws tucked under her body, her tail curling around herself, gold hued gaze wandering slightly as she glanced about, ears rotating and listening to the sounds around her.

Anemone’s personal spacecraft, the lady bug, had just landed on the palace grounds. As always, two personal guards exited the craft. One waited by the door to take the princess’ hand after she exited. “This should be fun” she mused to herself, gently fixing her skirting. Her reason for visiting the grand lunar palace was for afternoon tea. Yet, the real reason she wanted to visit was to see her cousin. Now that her mother was on friendlier terms with Serenity, it hopefully meant she could visit.
Her curly carmine tresses were had been styled into a braided bun. Like always, twin strands were kept free, framing her face. Anemone’s dress, though formal, matched her free sense of fashion. It was in a soft shade of pink, accented by darker colored wildflowers along the print. The dress tied around her neck with a slender band of fabric. Little bits of fabric draped along her shoulders, connected to the dress as well. As instructed by her mother, she carried a long off-white shrug… just in case the palace was on the colder side. Shoes were a pair of simple off-white heels. Her jewelry was simple; a pair of gold heart earrings and a single golden bracelet with a rose charm. Makeup was on the light side as well, with only a bit of reddish gloss on her lips.
A small smile played along the young princess’ face as she was escorted to inside the palace. Her mind began to wonder as she took notice of the various décor of the palace hallways. She began to go over the various things her mother told her about her aunt. Anemone tried to think about the few times she had meet the lunar royal and her daughter. Yet, sadly such meetings for so few and far between she couldn't recall anything significant. "No matter, I can always make new memories... " she mused to herself.

The queen sat at the vanity, wearing a diaphanous white dressing gown and fuzzy slippers, while attendants brushed out her silver hair before arranging it into her usual odango and pigtails. Her hair was so long and tangled so easily that washing and brushing it often took hours, necessitating waking up at the crack of dawn, even as much as she might have liked to sleep until noon.
Her dress for today had been laid out, a sleeveless white number with a floor-length tiered skirt made of a similar fabric to her dressing gown. Like most of her other dresses, it had the look of a wedding gown, which was ironic for a queen who had never married. But that was because she liked to give off the air of a virgin. . . which she was if you didn't count a rape among her sexual experiences. She'd never even gone beyond kissing other than that, and even those kisses were so long ago she no longer remembered what they had felt like. Well, sometimes she did kiss her daughter on the forehead or cheeks, but that wasn't the same.
She was hoping to see her daughter today at tea so they could talk, something else she didn't get to do nearly enough of. She didn't yet know of her niece's surprise visit. She hadn't seen the girl in quite a while, but surely she would recognise her own family no matter how much time had passed, right?

Rising from her spot at the Queen's throne, Luna stretched out, and decided to check up on the white haired queen. Tail swishing slightly, the catbeast padded towards Serenity's bedroom. She was probably still in her room, due to the crazy length of her hair and how long it took to get ready just by her hair alone.
Strolling idly towards the bedrooms, Luna took her time, getting to Queen Serenity's throne within about 10 minutes. Entering the room, the mauian sat by the Queen's vanity, mentally shaking her head at the tendrils of hair brushing the floor, the woman really needed to get a hair cut but Luna knew better than to even suggest it.
Scratching at an ear with her hind leg due to a slight itch, the feline sat quietly for a few moments, before speaking. "Good afternoon, your majesty." She greeted, looking up from her spot on the floor, large gold eyes taking in the queen's appearance, fluffy tail curling about her paws, which were arranged primly, her ears perked, hoping the woman was in a good mood despite the hours she probably had spent already just sitting there at the vanity getting her hair done.

Anemone slowly made her way down a long hallway. The palace was just as grand as she remembered, even though it had been a while since she had been there. She paused a few times to look at a few paintings, focusing on any that featured the lunar Royals. "Auntie looks so pretty... almost like a porcelain doll" she mused to herself.
Her thoughts traveled back to a small conversation she had with Parvati. She remembered asking the woman why did not want to attend afternoon tea "I'm sorry" the Venusian queen stated "I have a previous engagement". Even though it did not seem like her mother was lying, at the time, she now started to doubt her. It couldn't be that hard for her to postpone a meeting or two, right? Anemone also asked her father who simply outright refused. No matter, there would be plenty of time for her parents to meet and such.
Anemone's was lead to a charming tea room with an amazing view of the gardens below. The table had been set with elegant China, with a charming vase of fresh flowers at the center. Servants stood at the door, ready to fetch the tea and other goodies. "Looks like I am early, that's new" she whispered to herself. One of her personal guards moved to pull out a chair for her, moving to the side after she sat down. Anemone began to fiddle slightly with her skirting, her gaze shifted to the window.

The queen glanced over at the sound of her guardian kitty's voice, and a faint smile crossed her features, until one of the hairpins meant to hols up her odango scraped painfully against her scalp and her sweet smile twisted into a scowl.
"Careful, you idiot! If you've drawn blood and it stains my hair, I swear you'll spend the rest of your miserable career in the stables shoveling horse manure!"
"Y-y-yes, your majesty," the young woman said while curtsying. "I'm sorry, your majesty. I promise it won't happen again."
"Yes, well, it had better not."
The queen stood and went to the bed where her clothes had been laid out. She didn't order Luna out while her attendants laced up her corset and slipped her dress on (from the feet up, so as not to mess up her hair). Her advisor was only a cat, after all. What was indecent about changing in front of a cat?
"Is my daughter coming to tea today, or is she too busy with her lessons to join us?"

Inclining her head respectfully to the Queen, Luna began to settle, looking up as the queen crossed the room to her bed and began changing. Really? Did Serenity not realize she was more than some stupid animal? The arrogance! Luna wasn't just some normal cat. She was clearly smarter than your average bear.
Silently, she rose to her paws and turned her back to the queen, forcing her ears not to lay back, or her tail tip to twitch in annoyance. You'd think being with this woman so long, she'd learn that Luna was quite intelligent....mentally, she shook her head. Honestly, Serenity had a bad habit of underestimating people, and she clearly had underestimated Luna's intelligence. Honestly, sometimes Luna was thankful Serenity didn't think her more than some dumb animal...but she still got annoyed when it happened.
"I'm unsure, your majesty." The feline replied, gold gaze locked resolutely upon the wall before her. "I have yet to speak to her today." Keep it short, keep it simple, Luna wasn't one to ramble after all and when she did, it was mostly in her mind, as she didn't want to irritate Serenity with nonsensical things.

Anemone finally gave into temptation and slowly approached the window. Her gaze fell on the lovely scenery below. "I wish my mother could have come along. Such a charming view" she mused, a slight smiled played along with her features. She pressed one of the gems on her bracelet and a smalls screen appeared. The Venusian princess than began to take a few pictures. "Pictures from the tea room of the lunar palace, wish you were here!" After she was finished recording the screen faded away.
Instead of returning to her seat, she began to wander the room. There were a few more pictures along the walls that drew her attention. Not that her mother and aunt were on better terms she hoped they could take a royal portrait together. Perhaps her father would take her mother’s example and set aside his personal feelings? Even though she never really asked her father what he thought, the older male often changed the subject when she did bring up her aunt.
"I really hope my cousin can attend. If not, I'll just have to message her..."

How rude! That cat deliberately turned her back on the queen and spoke to her in short, vague statements. Serenity's lips settled into a scowl. Who did she think she was, anyway?
"Well, no matter," she said, not of the way Luna was acting, but of the fact her daughter may not be able to make it to tea. "We can't sit and wait around for her all day, now, can we?" She ran her hands along the sides of her skirt to smooth it down a bit. "Come now, I've been up since the crack of dawn without eating yet and I'm practically starving!"

Those sunbeams looked particularly welcoming after traveling from the planet Venus to the Moon Kingdom. It would feel so wonderful upon his fur and he would have the chance to close his eyes. Artemis stifled a small sigh of longing as he passed the sunbeam and continued onward through the palace. He followed dutifully behind Princess Anemone as they were escorted to a separate room to have afternoon tea with Queen Serenity and Princess Serenity. He quickened his pace, so he would not fall behind the group.
After a few winding turns through the hallways, the pair arrived at the designated room and the escort took his post outside the room. Princess Anemone took her seat as he found his own seat near to her. Once she gave into temptation and approached the window, he practically cheered inside. Sunbeam! He approached the window, as well, and stood in the sunbeam. He began to purr and settled downward into a comfortable, relaxed position When Princess Anemone began to take pictures, Artemis was sorely tempted to jump into the picture and grace the camera with his presence. But, he held himself back, because he did not know when Queen Serenity and Princess Serenity would enter the room. That, and he would have to leave his precious sunbeam.
Princess Anemone left the window to look at the portraits on the walls of the room. Nope, he didn't want to leave this window until he needed to, and that time wasn't now. The Mauian allowed himself a moment to close his eyes and enjoy the warmth upon his fur. "You will have the opportunity to see her later if she is otherwise engaged. If not, then you will have an excellent excuse to leave Corinthos on another short excursion." And, to take him with her, of course.

"Well then, let's head to the tea room, your majesty." Luna replied, turning back around once the Queen was dressed. She shifted slightly on her paws, her ears rotating and twitching at the sound of a male's voice...something was oddly familiar...but she couldn't quite place it. Who was that? Pawing open the door, the very large, very fluffy golden-eyed Mauian padded towards the tea room, glancing in a moment and perking when she saw the rather small male Mauian taking up her spot at her favorite window.
Glancing up at Anemone, Luna bowed her fluffy head in greeting. "Princess Anemone, it is good to see you! I trust Venus is doing well?." She queried in a warm voice, then jumped up onto the window and went into the kitty loaf position by Artemis.
"It's been quite some time." Luna began conversationally, looking at the tiny white-furred male. Was he always that small? She couldn't quite remember. It had been so long since she'd been around another Mauian. It was quite a pleasant surprise to see the one she'd been taken off world with again. Gazing out the window, Luna's tail swished idly from side to side. She was quite happy to be around the other feline.

Princess Anemone slowly turned away from the portrait and back to the window. She couldn't help but smile as she noticed that Artemis had found a nice, sunlight spot. He seemed so happy there, seemed a shame not to snap a picture, and she did. "You always look so cozy sitting in the sun," she commented. The young princess was glad the male Mauian had accompanied her for tea. She did admit to feeling a little intimidated by the idea of having tea with her aunt.
"I do hope so, it's been a while since I have seen her" replied Anemone with a slight chuckle "That's a good idea, Artemis. Or better yet, I could invite the princess to Venus. It might be easier for us to meet if I try to plan something in advance... for once"
The young woman turned away from her companion at the sound of the door opening. Her gaze fell along a rather large catbeast Mauian. She gave a small yet formal curtsy before speaking "It is a pleasure to meet you. Yes, everything is well on Venus. I hope everything is well with the lunar kingdom"
"A reunion, how lovely! Even if I don't see Princess Serenity today, this makes me glad that I visited" she said with a smile, looking towards the two cats now sitting in the sunlit window.

The cat opened one eye as he heard Princess Anemone turn toward the window and speak to him. He sighed contentedly as he enjoyed the warmth of the sun and resisted the urge to roll onto his back to allow the rays to reach his belly. Once he noticed his ward about to snap a picture, he closed his eye and struck his best 'cat lounging in a window' pose. He stretched his muscles and failed to stifle a small yawn.
"Because the sun is so cozy. You should enjoy it for a few minutes with me while we wait. Perhaps even take a little nap."
Oh boy, actually, that nap was very tempting. Maybe he should sit up to ward off the temptation of sleep. Nah... He had only a few more minutes to enjoy before the royal family would enter the room.
And then, Princess Anemone responded to his urging to schedule an additional meeting with Princess Serenity. But, she did not take his bait and she suggested they would meet on Venus. Oh well, they went off-planet often enough that there would be another opportunity.
Soon after that moment, the door to the room opened. Artemis reluctantly, but quickly, rose himself upward into a sitting position. The white cat was ready to leap downward away from the window if the royal family entered the room, but someone else had stepped across the doorway, first. At first, Artemis' face clearly displayed his shock at seeing the familiar Mauian female, but then he recovered and smiled happily.
"It is good to see you again. How have you been?" He inquired politely. It had been a long time since he had last seen Luna, perhaps approaching several decades, and he had not been sure when he would see her again. She had left Venus with Queen Serenity quite suddenly and he hadn't pushed his inquiry about why when Queen Pavarti seemed distraught and unwilling to talk at length about the intimate details surrounding her sister's departure.
So, yes, it had been awhile, but... Was she always so much larger than him? Artemis felt... inadequate was such a harsh word. He felt as if he was missing something when he sat next to her. Perhaps his masculinity.

Rather than her daughter, it seemed they were taking tea time with her niece and a small white cat. What was the animal's name again? No matter, she wasn't likely to speak to him unless spoken to first, anyway, and then only out of politeness.
"Anemone, my dear, so nice to see you," the queen said as she approached the girl with arms outspread for a hug. How are you doing? And your family?"
Surely if anyone in the family were sick or dying, she would have heard. And, contrary to what you might think, Queen Serenity wasn't all that eager for her little sister to die (anymore); now that she had her own moon, the greatest achievement of Mercurian technology to date, and she was pretty much the ruler of the whole system (except for Earth, and that was just a matter of time) there was no real reason to feel angry or jealous of her sister anymore.
"Let's sit and have the tea brought in now, shall we?"
She took a seat at the head of the table and called for the servants to bring in the tea set, scones, and dainty little finger sandwiches for everyone.

Purring warmly, Luna inclined her head politely to Anemone and her well-mannered curtsy. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, my dear and I'm glad to know things are well on your planet." She replied in a soft voice, tail swishing idly. "Things are as well as they can be here, I suppose, though Serenity does tend to sulk."
The feline shook her head, gazing fondly at Artemis. Truly, how was he so tiny? It befuddled and confused the Mauian, (not to mention if a mating ever did happen it would be awkward as could be due to the clear size difference unless it happened in human form...hopefully the teeny pud wasn't tiny in human form in more ways than one...)
At the tiny male's inquiry, Luna shrugged, her thick fur rustling slightly. "I've been as well as I can be, how have things been for you?." She responded in a calm tone of voice, glancing over afterwards as the Queen entered the room, and as the woman sat down, Luna imagined the chair crashing under the smug and terribly ambitious woman. Alright, she may have respected the Queen, but it would have been bloody hilarious had that happened. Turning her gaze back out the window, Luna kept her ears semi-relaxed but alert in order to listen in on the conversation.
When one was supposedly a dumb animal, you could get away with such things as she tended to be ignored for her opinions unless she was speaking to the Princess, who seemed far more inclined to actually LISTEN TO HER rather than brush her off like her opinion didn't matter. Really, sometimes Luna wanted to scratch that porcelain perfect doll-like face of Queen Serenity's, because frankly, she was tired of being treated as lesser than the human. With a controlled flick of her tail, she continued to simply gaze outside, watching the Earth slowly rotate.
She missed Pavarti dearly, even after all this time, but she was doing her best to make the best of a situation she'd never wanted to be in the first place, but she was glad Artemis hadn't been subjected to the unfair holier-than-thou attitude of the Queen.
