Earth was barely out of its dinosaur days when humanoid life first emerged in the Sol system. The Mercurians were the first to develop far enough to accomplish space travel, and began exploring the system in search of intelligent life, which they found in abundance on many of the planets and moons they visited. Each new race they met was eager to accept the knowledge and technology the Mercurians had to offer, but not every world proved as peaceful as they were. Interplanetary war broke out, lasting hundreds of years until a young Venusian queen, called Serenity, managed to broker peace between the worlds of the Sol system. She was the first of the dynasty that would eventually become known as the Lunarian royals. It was the beginning of a golden age for the Sol System, a time that would later become known as the Silver Millennium.
Earth’s moon hasn’t always orbited the small blue-green planet. Indeed, it originally had no satellite to call its own. Long ago, before humans even rose to become the dominant species on the planet Earth, a small artificial moon was placed in its orbit to watch over the young, developing world and help guide the evolution of its people and their cultures. The people of Earth grew up enamoured of their moon, unaware of the fact it hadn't always been there. They liked to imagine they saw the form of a man or woman on its surface, or some even a rabbit, frog, or some other animal. Some of them preferred to imagine there were little green people up there. None of them could have guessed what was really going on; that there were people there who looked virtually identical to humans, who had been watching them from afar for millennia.
When Queen Serenity thought the people of Earth were ready she went down to the Golden Kingdom, which had emerged as the largest and most powerful kingdom on the young planet, accompanied by her daughter, also called Serenity, and her most trusted advisor, Luna. She informed the king, in no uncertain terms, that Earth would be joining her empire, enjoying the free exchange of knowledge, goods, and technology from all the worlds of the Sol System. All they had to do was swear fealty to the moon and surrender their world’s sacred Golden Crystal. She had vastly overestimated Earth's ability and willingness to accept their lunar overlords. Panic spread throughout the land at the fact there were people on the moon who looked just like humans, who had been watching them since time immemorial, and who wanted to take over their planet. Understandably the king refused, a decision which the Lunarian Queen took as a declaration of war.
Even knowing their adversaries have an overwhelming advantage with their powers and technology, the Golden King sent out word to the other kingdoms of Earth. In response, the kings from the lands of the four cardinal directions sent not only their armies, but also their own young kings to aid the Golden Kingdom in the war.
Endymion, the prince of the Golden Kingdom, has been secretly cavorting around the past several months with a fortunetelling peasant known as Beryl, even though he knows he can’t marry someone of her station in life. He’s been trying to teach her the ways of the court, while she’s been trying to teach him to use some of the divining magic she uses. Though the relationship has continued, from the moment he saw Princess Serenity, Endymion has found he just can’t keep his mind off her, even to the point that she now features in his dreams. Is it possible she feels the same? And perhaps even more importantly, does his current lover, Beryl, suspect his attention has been stolen away?
While there are, of course, positions for Lunarians, Sol Senshi, and other denizens of the Sol system (and perhaps even from outside, if done well), our story is set primarily on Earth and you are encouraged to create characters from this planet. Ultimately you must make the decision; will you join the side of the Lunarians who are bent on absorbing Earth into their system-wide empire, or will you join the human resistance and rise up against the Lunarian oppressors?
