After everything that she had been through being on Earth so far, Eirlys had been surprised when Zoisite had invited her to a sparring session. The two had become quite fast friends and she was rather happy she'd met someone of Earth that was kind and was willing to help her. As she headed to where Zoisite told her to go, her nerves grew. She really hoped this would go well as she had never fought in her life and she was scared about having to possibly transform in order to keep up with him.
Entering the sparring area she'd been told to go to, Eirlys stood and waited, looking around with wide hazel eyes. She had put her hair in its usual ponytail and was wearing one of the outfits Zoi had bought for her on her first full day on Earth, and she loved the color schemes he'd picked out for her.
"I hope this goes well." Eirlys murmured quietly to herself, trying not to let her nerves take over and make her flee from something that hadn't even started yet, fidgeting with her heart-shaped pendant that allowed her to transform, the young princess of Mercury let out a shaky sigh. "I can do this... I can spar with a friend. Hopefully he doesn't go too hard on me." She murmured under her breath to herself.

Zoisite had invited the alien girl he knew as Arwyn to the same training arena he had sparred with Krutz in just a few days ago. It was a fairly intimate space and didn't have much to bump into or trip over... or to hide behind, which was a plus in this case. It was too tempting to run and hide instead of fight when you were new to combat, just out of fear of getting hurt. This setting would minimize the likelihood of her getting any ideas along those lines. She had specifically asked him to go easy on her, since she had never been in a fight in her whole life. How the hell had she managed that? The place where she lived must have been some kind of paradise if one could go their whole life without ever needing to learn how to fight. But if she couldn't fight at all, whose bright idea had it been to appoint her guardian of a whole planet?
Arwyn wasn't exactly dressed for a fight, when she finally showed up, wearing one of the dresses Zoi had bought for her in the market. It was a dark blue and simply styled, more suited to doing chores than appearing at court or attending the festival that Endymion insisted they were still having this weekend, Lunar Queen and her ultimatum be damned. Was it any good for fighting in? Well, he supposed it wasn't any less practical than the one she had worn when she had shown him her other form. As for his own attire, Zoi was wearing a pair of brown pants, a white undershirt and brown boots. His long dirty blond curls were ponytailed at the nape of his neck, though a few shorter pieces, mostly near his face, had worked their way free. He idly twirled a lock as he watched her approach, looking terribly nervous and awkward.
"I brought a spare sword for you, if you need it," he said, "although using your own would be better, so you can get used to its weight and balance. It's up to you."

Blinking when Zoisite came in looking ready for a fight, Eirlys exhaled softly, realizing that damnit, she'd have to henshin. "I need to tranform huh?" She sighed softly, and gave a nod. "Alright, I understand."
Shifting slightly, Eirlys brushed a hand over her pendant. "Mercury Planet Power Make up." She spoke it this time testing it out, and much to her surprise, it worked. "But what about when I'm out of this form?" She queried. "I can't summon my ice sword...how would I be able to fight?"
She really hoped she would be able to figure things out soon when it came to possibly having to fight in her 'normal' form. Eirlys felt more stronger and more confident in her transformed state and she often hoped it would transfer to her usual self, as she could definitely use that strength and confidence in many situations.

Arwyn really didn't have to change if she didn't want to, but Zoi was rather glad she did. That meant it was perfectly within the rules for him to use powers, knowing she had some sort of powers of her own to counter with.
"You'll still be able to swordfight in your other form, if you can get your hands on one. You can fight hand-to-hand if you have to, as well. Get rid of the notion that you can't take on a larger or stronger opponent hand-to-hand and win just because you're small. It's not your size that matters, but what you do with the body you have. Now let's start with the basics. Hold the sword like this, with both hands, to start with. You can use almost any sword one-handed if you want or need to, but two makes it easier when you're just starting out." He went over and physically moved her hands to get them into a good starting position. "Now, don't just swing it around wildly or one of us is sure to lose a limb." Standing behind her, Zoi directed her arms to demonstrate a good, solid swing. "Like that, see?" After demonstrating the way to swing a few times, he took a step back. "Now you try."

Shifting slightly, Eirlys nodded as Zoisite demonstrated how to work her sword and she nodded. Shifting her feet to stand more comfortably, she stepped away from Zoisite a little, then adjusted her grip a little bit to hold the sword more comfortably in her hands. Giving it a good solid swing, she smirked a little at Zoisite.
"Is that alright?" She asked, hoping she had done it properly, after all she didn't want to disappoint her friend. The sword felt...well it felt good in her hands-it felt almost natural, like it was an extension of her arm. Cautiously she spun it in her hand and hummed a little.
"This ice sword feels good." She remarked, looking at it curiously. "It's almost like it's already a part of my arm.....hm." She tilted her head. "Guess it must be the connection I have with it...Mercurian legend says it was once Hermes' blade...and only a chosen warrior of his can weild it."

Arwyn swung the sword around a little and asked whether she had done all right. It was hard to say if she was doing well or not, since she had hardly even done anything yet, but he didn't want her to feel discouraged. That was especially true after she said the sword felt good, like a part of her arm, already. She went on to say that legend said it was Hermes' blade and that only his chosen warrior could wield it. He took it that Hermes was someone important where she came from, maybe a great king or a god. She seemed very proud of the idea that she was his chosen one.
"Not bad for a start," he said, hoping the words didn't sound too harsh. "Now let's see how well you can handle yourself in a mock fight." He picked up his own sword and reassured her, "We'll take it slow and easy at first, until you get more of the hang of it."
Zoisite swung the sword slowly enough that the girl could easily see it coming and parry, and repeated the exercise several times coming from different angles in the hopes she would catch on pretty quickly to the basics, at least, even if learning to fight well would take a lot longer than one morning.
