Feel free to ask questions! This is just what I've cooked up so far for Mercury, and this thread will be a constant WIP as I build the world I feel Mercury would be in this setting.
Mercury, due to the severe close proximity to the sun, has protective, heavily temperature controlled domes that do not rise above, or below 68 degrees farenheit year round unless the King and Queen wish it, or if it is requested as they have full control in a hidden room in the main palace that controls the 'sunscreens' and the temperature gauges throughout the domes.
The rounded, glass-like domes are covered by what are considered 'sunscreens' , a set of 3000 mesh-like screens that block most of the sun's harsh blinding rays and heat so the people of Mercury can live in comfort and not fear being roasted to death.
Mercury is the forefront, and main hub of technology in the galaxy, and close to what NeoCrystal Tokyo would be in the future. They have super computers, mini computers, tablets, interactive holographic projections, and a variety of other tech they have shared with the other planets through bartering and trading. They have also invented space travel, and space ships, and have shared this as well.
Mariner City is the Captial of Mercury and is a large, round city, with 'branches' off to other domes connected by protected pathways. The top of the buildings all rounded, or slanted downwards, with smaller buildings dotted throughout the city, everything made of shiny metal and glass. The 'lower levels' though, are of a wood looking construct, with stalls lining a few of the off streets and alleyways, there are no real slums on the planet, most people being middle-higher class.
Mariner Castle is a beautiful sight to see. It is crafted out of metal and glass, with 4 storeys, and a public wing that's accessible , and has 4 buildings in total. The Main Palace, Servant Quarters, Guard's Barracks, and the Garden Shed. It overlooks a wonderful piece of land that Mariner City had grown upon, and there is direct access to the gardens in the back of the castle for those that wish to indulge in Mercury's unnatural, but impressive beauty.
The main thing you will notice about Mariner Castle's gardens, is that they are filled with roses, mostly blue ones with a slightly musty scent, but there are roses that people call the 'natural' roses, hardy metallic roses with a coppery smell. No one knows where or how they came to be, but apparently they were there even before Mercury was settled upon, according to the local lore.
