We're doing NPCs a bit differently now, which we hope will allow them to be put to better use. We now have a central NPC account which will be lent out as needed on a thread by thread request basis. If you feel an unoccupied character is needed for your thread and would like to NPC her/him, fill out the following form and PM it to Jo: Name of Character: To Be NPCed By: Thread: Why Is This Character Needed For This Thread? Writing Sample As This Character (100 word minimum):
Staff reserves the right to deny an NPC request or ask someone else to NPC the character in the requested thread, as we feel necessary. Credit for new NPC system to Kanbei.

There's been a bit of confusion over when the NPC account needs to be used and when it doesn't, so here are just a few guidelines. If you still have questions, be sure to ask and it will be addressed. - A character whose mun is vacationing, missing, or otherwise absent may be requested as an NPC if necessary for the thread. When/if the mun returns, control returns immediately to her/him, so if the mun chooses to leave the thread, that is her/his choice; please respect it. (Note to any such mun, please make a proper exit rather than dropping out abruptly.)
- For an associated NPC like your character's pet or child you may continue to write this character into posts from your own account as needed.
- NPC hordes (e.g. rioters, zombies, a bunch of random rebels in an assault) don't require permission to be NPCed, and may usually be controlled by others as needed to further the thread.
- If there's a particular "type" you would like to NPC in a thread (e.g. a reporter in a news conference, the grumpy patient in the next hospital bed, etc.) you may ask to do so. Samples will be optional in this case only. You're more likely to be granted this if the thread starter has asked someone to fill the role or it's important to the thread.
- Youma are not controlled from the NPC account. They are specific to the characters who send them, and thus will be created and controlled from their own accounts.
The NPC account doesn't have to be used for dreams, as they're not real. Just try to be considerate and respectful of other charas when you borrow them for dreams. If you abuse the privilege, you may have it taken away (such as requiring the charas being portrayed to be played/NPCed in all your dreams instead of you controlling them yourself), and that would be a bother for all involved, so behave.
