General Information
Name: Queen Serenity
Alias: Selene
Gender: Female
Birthday: 30 June
Zodiac Sign: Cancer
Age: 5,317, but looks mid 30s
Birthplace: Cytheria Palace on the planet Venus
Physical Description: Queen Serenity stands around 5'4" tall and is quite thin at only 115 lbs. Her torso is short, but her limbs are long, which, combined with her thinness, makes her seem taller than she actually is. She doesn't really have as much of an hourglass figure as she would like, but she dresses to enhance what she has, which includes wearing a corset to give herself more of a defined waist. Her pale skin, alongside her silver hair and the white dresses she tends to wear, makes her look rather washed out, especially on days she's not wearing much makeup.
Her face is square, which gives her a rather hard look despite her efforts to appear so delicate. Her silver-grey eyes are narrow and a bit droopy at the outer corners, giving her a perpetually sad look. Her nose is long and narrow, and her lips have a pouty look about them. She doesn't wear much makeup-- usually just a bit of mascara and sheer pink lip gloss-- but on fancy occasions she does up her full face. Even on the fanciest occasions, though, her makeup never looks overdone.
Her hair is her most recognisable feature, being a pale silvery white (don't call it grey around her, as she hates and resents that implication) and worn in the same odango hairstyle with long pigtails hanging underneath that her mother wore, and that her daughter now wears. The queen's hair has grown so long that it even brushes the ground when it's put up in odango and tails now. When it's taken down, such as for bathing or being cared for, it drags on the ground behind her. She knows she should cut it, but it's such a trademark for her that she has refused any temptation thus far.
Queen Serenity is usually seen wearing white, to symbolise her self-proclaimed status as a virgin queen. She wears corsets and close-fitting gowns most days, despite the way such clothes may impair her movement. The vast majority of her shoes boast at least 3" heels. Beauty is pain, or so she likes to remind herself. Her favourite gown is strapless and has a mermaid shape. It is decorated at the front with a white bow that has a crescent moon-shaped brooch in the middle, and at the back she wears a pair of large, translucent fairy wings. She actually prefers to wear the wings more often than not, as she feels they give her an ethereal look. Rather than a crown, which she feels could be seen as ostentatious, she wears a simple golden beaded circlet with a golden crescent moon shape at the middle of her forehead. With the way her hair is parted, it covers the circlet except for the golden crescent moon, giving the impression of a natural crescent in the middle of her forehead.
Personality: Serenity is a highly intelligent, charismatic, and well-spoken woman, with an air of authority which makes her seem taller than her modest physical stature. She notices even small details and is quick to come up with theories to answer any problems or mysteries that may be plaguing her (though sometimes she's a bit too quick to leap to a conclusion and gets it wrong). She's good at inspiring respect and loyalty from those serving under her, drawing others in to her way of thinking, and "rallying the troops", so to speak, when morale is low. Serenity is good at reading people, and will often have someone figured out, if not on first sight, then within a few minutes of meeting them. Those who don't meet her approval will probably never know it, however, because she uses the same kind and serene manner with everyone, whether she likes them or not. Yet despite her insight into the hearts and minds of others, Serenity has never had anyone she would call a real friend, at least not of the human variety. The closest thing she has would probably be Luna, her longtime advisor and confidante. If that cat ever decided to sell the stories she's heard from her charge. . . well, she would be momentarily quite rich, anyway, until Serenity very discreetly arranged for her to meet with an unfortunate end-- made to look like an accident, of course!-- and not before she had done everything she could to discredit every word the cat had said. But Luna would never even think of betraying her like that. . . would she? Surely even a dumb animal such as her would be smarter than that!
Though always polite and well-mannered towards others, Serenity seems very emotionally detached and uncomfortable talking about herself or her feelings. She will go out of her way to avoid having to do so, if asked. In reality, she has a temper that a Martian would envy hiding underneath her prim and proper exterior. She taught herself to hide that from others fairly early in life, so as not to get herself into trouble with her parents or nannies; she's much more likely to lock herself away in her chambers and scream into a pillow or break something than take it out on anyone, if she can help it. Although she doesn't have a lot of empathy, she's quite good at faking it when she has to, such as when she has to make a public address about some sort of disaster. Perhaps she missed her calling and should have been an actress instead? Despite having been born on Venus, Serenity seems on the surface to be very innocent and chaste. She reinforces that idea by perpetuating the story that she's untouched by any man and that her daughter was conceived by virgin birth.
She's always been very ambitious, and was planning out what she would do during her rule even as a young child (although at that age, it mostly consisted of "cake for everyone, and let everybody be happy and dance"). Serenity is happiest when she feels adored, which is probably why she was so hurt when her youngest sister, Parvati, was revealed as Sailor Venus and she felt everyone loved the girl more than her, and why she was so close to her own daughter when the little girl was growing up. (Whether they have maintained such a close bond or whether the younger Serenity has developed a rebellious streak in her teen years is up to the princess' mun.) What makes the queen saddest is the thought of being nothing but a footnote in history-- born from a former Sailor Venus, an older sister to her generation's Sailor Venus, but who missed out on being a senshi herself.
She's become the most powerful being in the system and she knows it, which can lead her to underestimate her opponents both in and out of combat situations. However, she also suffers from the paranoia common amongst people in positions of power, that someone might come along and try to dethrone her. Serenity is under no delusions that everyone in the system is happy being under her rule, and the idea there could be a coup or assassination attempt is always lurking there in the back of her mind.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Having been raised as a perfect lady, she is unfortunately almost wholly incapable of defending herself in fair hand to hand combat or with traditional weapons. All of Queen Serenity's powers come from the Ginzuishou, the legendary silver crystal that powers the artificial moon. Most of the time it's used for peaceful things like building and maintaining her kingdom and keeping her people healthy and long lived, but it also holds incredible destructive powers which can be unleashed only when she's angry or experiencing other negative emotions. She's become quite good at controlling her emotions most of the time, but is capable of being pushed to the edge if dealing with an extreme situation or occasionally, person. The power of the crystal can be depleted if it's used for large projects like destroying a powerful enemy or building the Moon Kingdom out of nothing, but it can replenish itself with time and good vibes (literally-- when there is loving energy around it can replenish itself twice as fast as it can on its own, namely in days or weeks instead of months, depending on how depleted it is).
History: Serenity was born to Queen Agape and King Lyubomir of Venus, the eldest of three daughters (the other two were Amanda and Parvati) and intended to be next in line to the throne, at least until her youngest sister Parvati turned out to be Sailor Venus. Serenity was livid. How dare her pipsqueak little sister take her chance at being queen? And their parents just planned to abdicate in a few years, when the child was old enough, and let it happen! They would never get the chance, as both parents died shortly after, succumbing to a sickness that was going around the palace at the time. The children got sick, as well, with Parvati coming quite close to death, but all three survived. In reality, the sickness was caused by Serenity, who slowly poisoned the food the family ate. She even sickened herself, carefully controlling her consumption of the poison so as not to become fatal (or she was betting everything on the idea that it wouldn't, anyway) to help throw off suspicion. Even though she didn't die, the poisoning left Serenity a bit frail and intolerant of all the highly-spiced foods she used to enjoy the most, now only able to consume bland foods. When the poisoning was discovered, she cast blame on one of the cooks, who was given a quick trial in a kangaroo court and publicly executed for his alleged crimes.
With her parents dead and Parvati still too young to rule, a nineteen-year-old Serenity installed herself as the planet's queen regnant, with no plans on giving up the role for anyone, even the true Senshi of Venus. She had the lotus-shaped Ginzuishou fashioned out of the crystal she took from her mother's cold, dead body, but since it wasn't her inborn crystal it wouldn't absorb into her body; she carried it in a brooch she wore. At first the crystal resisted her efforts to control it, until one day she got so angry and frustrated at her repeated failures that the crystal replied by blowing a large hole in the wall. She spent the next several months learning to control the crystal and, although she has yet to learn to control it as well as her mother did (it becomes destructive when she's angry or experiencing other negative emotions), and its abilities seem to be utterly different now than when her mother had it, she's fairly happy with what she's accomplished with it. It was through the combination of the Ginzuishou's natural power and that of her own anger that she was able to forcibly stop what would turn out to be the final battle of the war between the planets, which had been waging since long before she had been born and had already cost millions of lives throughout the system and near-incalculable amounts of ammunition, fuel, and other resources. They were more than ready to stop fighting by then. Between the great power she had been shown to wield and the peace accords she brokered, Serenity was able to stop the war almost single-handedly. To this day she tries to maintain at least the appearance of cordial friendships with the royals of the other advanced worlds in the Sol system (even with her youngest sister, Parvati, the current queen of Venus, whom she has mostly forgiven for trying to take her throne-- but only recently). Only once she came to rule over the entire system was she kind enough to let her youngest sister take over ruling their home planet, although of course, like all the other worlds, Venus is still under Queen Serenity's rule. But there was still one world that had remained so far young and ignorant, one over which Serenity had no control. The planet they called Terra, but which the inhabitants called Earth, had been slow to develop intelligent humanoid life and technology, since the Mercurians hadn't met anyone there they found advanced enough to understand and appreciate modern technology when they visited. Indeed, their advanced technology had been seen as magic by the young human race, who had regarded them with suspicion and fear.
Always thinking big, Serenity ordered the creation of a small, artificial moon (called Luna after the queen's only true friend and confidante) in the orbit of Earth, looking out over the young race and subtly helping to influence their evolution and cultures over the centuries. Why did Earth fascinate her so? Well, firstly, centuries of fighting have left the other worlds severely lacking in resources, and she sees Earth as a potential new and untapped source. Secondly, if all the other planets in the system have crystals, she's sure Earth must, as well. As primitive as the humans are, she's sure they don't even know what they have, much less how to properly use it. . . but she knows, and she wants its power for her own. And lastly, it's just killing her that every planet in the Sol system is under her control except one, and she wants to complete the set. The moon she's created is uninhabited except for one modest city, the Moon Kingdom, which has become the capitol of Serenity's system-wide Lunar Empire.
Her virginity, her purity, has always been important to Serenity. She's never liked the stereotypes of Venus as one big prostitution ring and the women as all being loose, and has always sought to dispel those stereotypes. So one could imagine her shame when, alone and disguised, on a walk around the capitol city while she was visiting her sisters on Venus, she was raped at knife point. It's something she still has nightmares about today. Of course she never wanted to admit both the fact she was raped and the fact she was no longer virginal. Sick to her stomach over the very idea of giving birth, she wanted to get rid of the resulting child. Her sisters convinced her that she should keep it so she would have an heir to pass her empire on to after her death, and it was with their help that she came up with the story of actually being pregnant by divine means. Some even believed it, while from others the rumours swirled around that she had premarital sex with some man and had gotten herself pregnant accidentally. (If she knew who had started those rumours, she would have had them all killed-- quietly, of course.) She has always maintained that her daughter came about by virgin birth, and that's how the younger Serenity grew up identifying herself, as well. As much as she expected to-- even wanted to-- hate her daughter for having been a product of rape, she's never been able to. Every time the little princess' eyes looked at her, so full of love, the queen knew she just couldn't hate her.
A few months ago (from the beginning of this game), when Queen Serenity thought the people of Earth were ready (which is to say, she was getting too impatient from waiting) she went down to the Golden Kingdom, which had emerged as the largest and most powerful kingdom on the young planet, accompanied by her daughter, also called Serenity, and her most trusted advisor, Luna. She informed the king, in no uncertain terms, that Earth would be joining her empire, enjoying the free exchange of knowledge, goods, and technology from all the worlds of the Sol System. All they had to do was swear fealty to the moon and surrender their world’s sacred Golden Crystal. She had vastly overestimated Earth's ability and willingness to accept their lunar overlords. Panic spread throughout the land at the fact there were people on the moon who looked just like humans, who had been watching them since time immemorial, and who wanted to take over their planet. Understandably the king refused, a decision which the Lunarian Queen took as a declaration of war.

RP Sample (required for all, 100 word minimum): Perhaps it was because of the way her parents died that Queen Serenity always employed a professional taster to taste all her food before she decided whether to eat it or not. Not only did he know what most poisons tasted like, so she could hopefully avoid her parents' fate, but he also had a sophisticated palate that could tell her what sorts of food and spice were in the meal. For someone likely to throw up if she ate the wrong foods, that was an incredibly useful skill to have in an employee.
"Well?" she asked impatiently after the tester had taken a few bites.
"This meal," he concluded, "is delicious. Your cooks have really outdone themselves this time."
"And the level of spice?"
"Quite nice, Your Majesty. Hardly bland at all. That would be my one concern. I worry whether the meat may offend your oh so delicate gastrointestinal system," he said.
The queen made a sour face. "I won't have any this evening, then. I'll have to have a talk with those cooks about incorporating spices," she decided. It had to be that new hire, she was sure of it. All the other kitchen staff knew better. "Very well, then. Bring out the cakes!"
