 Passing Time. Tuesday 4/2 (Closed)
« Thread Started on Oct 16, 2009, 11:44am »

Bridget wandered into the pub with a purpose. She was going to relax and get plastered cause she didn't have to work the nextb day and just cause she could. It was always amusing to watch and listen here anyway. She walked up to the bar and sat down.

She was dressed in her typical jeans and had a rare tanktop on. Her hair was let down out of its ponytail, since it normally ended up loose on nights like this anyway. She waved down the bartender.

"I want a bottle of strong sake and some sushi."

"Yes, ma'am"

As Bridget waited for her drink, she surveyed the pub. It was the typical crowd. Some already drunk and raucous. Most every one left her alone. As the Bartender brought back her Sake and sushi she paid him, took a long draw on the sake, and seetled in for a long night.

Dev had been sitting in the back corner reading the days paper as he waited for a group of his men to report back into him. He slowly sipped his mint tea as he listened to one of the American boys singing about the Revolution of 2776. God had he missed being this relaxed. He was certainly going to enjoy it while he could. He had a terrible feeling that it was about to get hectic again

Oh I'm a good ole rebel
Now that's just what I am
And for this Senshi nation
I do not give a damn
I'm glad I fought against her
I only wished we won.
And I don't want any pardon
for anything I done

I hate the senshi nation
and everything they do,
I hate the imperium crystal
of Serenity to;
I hate British union
it's drippin' with our blood
I hate their crystal banner
I fought it all I could.

I followed Andy Simmons
for two years, there about,
Got wounded in four places
and I starved at Point Lookout:
I caught pneumonia
campin' in the snow;
but I killed a mess of Royals
and I'd like to kill some more

Three thousand royals
is stiff in 'merican dust
We got three thousand
Before they conquered us.
They died of 'merican fever
and 'merican steel and shot;
I wish it were three million
instead of what we got.

I can't take up my rifle
and fight them now no more,
But I'll never love them
now that is certain sho';
And I don't want a pardon
for what I was and am;
And I won't be reconstructed
and I do not give a damn.

Oh I'm a good ole rebel
Now that's just what I am
And for this Senshi nation
I do not give a damn
I'm glad I fought against her
I only wished we won.
And I don't want any pardon
for anything I done

As the gaijin continued his song he suddenly heard a woman order sushi? Now granted this was Japan but this wasn't exactly the place to get sushi. His curiosity and paranoia got the best of him as he quickly folded his paper and headed over to the bar to find an ex zodiac sitting there. Well this was certainly a strange turn of events. He slowly walk to bar and sat on a stool and was surprised yet again as the bartender actually brought her sushi. Saints preserve us. What the hell had people been doing to the pub while he was gone? He looked to the zodiac (he really didn't know her name but he recognized her from the reports after Bloody Sunday) and finally spoke.

"You know that's not exactly our specialty? Though we do make a mean Shepherd's pie."

Bridget turned and looked at the man who spoke. She had seen his face before but couldn't place where. Staring back at the plate the the bartender had given her she realized that what was on it was not sushi but a sort of shredded meat with some other stuff, corned beef her parent's had called it when they made it for her as a kid. She took another sip of her sake and realized that it wasn't sake but some kind of other spirit in a bottle.

"Hmm, I believe you're right. This is good though. Say, most people don't really look my way twice. Aren't you worried that I supported Argenia?"

Bridget eyed him curiously. If he was willing to talk to a known supporter of Argenia without absolutely having to, then he might make for some interesting conversation.

Vardia walked up to the bar, wearing a pair of red hip huggers and a black shirt with a quote from the poem the Women of Cairo ("Eyes made of the Egyptian night Sparkling like an oasis pool Skin the color of the endless sand Beauty of forgotten goddesses lives on") printed across the front in white. She had paired this with a burnt orange jacket with the sleeves partially rolled up and a pair of trendy, but plain and practical sneakers. It was still a bit cold in Tokyo this time of year for her taste. About 20 degrees colder than the temperature would have been in Cairo. There was also a lot more rain, but she had to admit that when the cherry blossoms came out they would almost make up for it. Almost. She missed Egypt, especially during the rainy months and the beginning of the year when they had snow. She could never understand why anyone would want to live somewhere where the rainy season was in summer rather than winter.

She sat down at the bar and smiled at the bartender. "The usual Jeb," she told him in her native Arabic. Jebadiah was from Israel and also spoke her language. She couldn't hold her alcohol well, but she liked to have one drink in the evening while she socialized with the other rebels.

He grinned, "Still warm or are you ready to switch yet?"

"Warm, definitely warm." He laughed and set the Egyptian beer on the counter for her. She thanked him and then turned to the girl next to her, switching her speech to Japanese with the well practiced grace of one who had been learning the language since they were young. "Well, you're a new face. Welcome to Plato's Idea." Of course, Vardia knew who Bridget Kemp was. She very much doubted that there was anyone who didn't. Last year, the identities of the Zodiac senshi had been released to the public and the woman next to her had been revealed to be Sailor Aries. But she had enough sense not to bring that up right off the bat. From what she had heard the transformations had not been voluntary and she imagined that for some of those involved it was a sore subject. As she didn't know whether or not Bridget was one of them, it was best to ignore the matter altogether unless she brought it up first.

Bridget took another swig of her drink and turned toward the new lady who had just walked in. She heard her say sommething in another language and then the lady turned toward Bridget.

Bridget raised an eybrow at the lady's statement. New face? Either this person was wayyyy out of the loop or she was purposely acting like she didn't know who she was. Either way, she came to this pub to see waht might turn up, so she might as well see what the lady had to say.

After sipping some more of her drink she responded.

"Oi. My name is Bridget, I come here sometimes but i guess
it isn't on the nights you come. And what might your name be?"

Bridget figured she'd better be polite as long as the other girl was polite. It was rumored that some....Interesting....people wandered through this pub. Maybe this lady was one of them.

Dev smirked a little at the girl's question. Quick and to the point. Just how he liked it. He threw a quick glance to Vardia as she took a glass of her wretched Egyptian brew. The blasted woman wouldn't give him any peace until he made it a permanent part of the selection. Dev quickly motioned toward her and responded to the young zodiac.

"She's Vardia Mubarak and I'm Michael de Velara. We're the heads of the People's Self-Government Alliance. To answer your question miss I couldn't care less if you're an Argenian sympathizer. They'll still be brought to justice. In case the gaijin wailing of a lost cause wasn't a clue, we all knew your political views as soon as you entered the pub. So the real question here is this. Why are you here?"

Vardia held out her hand as Dev introduced her. "It's a pleasure." She took a drink of her Stella noticing the look that he was giving her and rolled her eyes in response. She had explained it to him many times, it was not only Egyptians who liked the brand. Several of her father's friends had been foreigners who were well traveled and had tried the alcohol of multiple countries. After drinking Stella, many of them declared it the best they had ever tasted and never drank anything else afterward. You couldn't walk into a place that served alcohol in Egypt without finding Stella and many bars in Europe always kept it in stock as well. She couldn't understand why he was so against having it in his bar, unless maybe he was just mad that she had insisted on the variety that was sold in Egypt rather than the type made for exports that had a higher alcohol content. She shook her head and mouthed, "Irishmen" at him. He was well aware of her opinion of his country's alcohol. When they had first had a drink together he had commented on her drinking something with such a low alcohol content and she had in turn replied that she didn't think it was a mark of favor that the Irish had to put so much alcohol in their drinks to hide the fact that on their own they had no flavor.

She smiled at Bridget. "The Argenians are just like any other group of people, some of them are bad and some of them are good. I'm all for civil rights as long as they aren't killing humans to try and get them. An assassination is one thing, Neo Queen Serenity deserved to die, but killing innocent civilians who have nothing to do with your cause is another. The Argenians who have done that are the ones I have a problem with. The others? Well, I wish them luck. Discarding the shackles of oppression is a difficult job, but I can hardly think of a more worthwhile one." She raised her glass into the air and took another drink before setting it down again. She was careful not to drink too much. Alcohol tended to have bad effects on her and she didn't want to mess up this conversation.

Bridget listened to Both Vardia and Michael, took another sip of her drink, and ate some of her corned beef. When vardia held out her hand Bridget politely shook it. She smiled when Michael asked his question.

"Isn't it obvious. We argenian supporters, you know, aren't well liked in most of the city. I come here because no one here normally gives a rat's ass about my past. And the few people who are drunk enough to listen to my story realize that my reasons are what they are. My reasons. And whether or not anyone else understands them, I do. As to the Argenians being like regular people, I agree. Some are evil and some are simply misunderstood. Some deserve to die, and some deserve a chance to prove that they are so much more than a stereo type."

Bridget paused to sip some more then continued.

"So you two are the heads of this self alliance thingy I've heard rumors about? Quite frankly, I sympathize. I used to be like so many of tokyo's common crowd, idolizing the senshi, and while its true that they have saved earth in the past, I feel that some how, the time of the Sol senshi should come to a close. they are, in essence, A special defense in the military of earth. At no point in history has a government run by the military succeeded. While i don't belive they should all die, I do believe its time for them to step down from ruling and let Earths own people take a shot at it."

Bridget sighed as she finished. The predjudice against those of argenia and those who supported them had made her realize the fallability of the Sol senshi. While they, on paper, had forgiven argenia, they did nothing while the argenians and their supporters were discrimiated against. And Bridget was not dumb enough to think that they didn't know about it. They hadn't even tried to put out any laws protecting them from such treatment either. She raised her glass to the other two.

"C'est la vie"

Bridget proceeded to down the rest of her glass and called the bartender for another.

Dev nodded a bit to to Bridget's statement and raised his pint in response. "I'll drink to that." He took a long sip of his pint and gently clinked his glass to Bridget's. Just as she got a fresh glass the phone started to ring. Dev gave a quick nod as Jeb picked up the phone and said, " Plato's Idea, where your voice has the power." Jeb's face faltered as he listened intently to the person on the phone. He muttered something in response and hung up. Jeb slowly made his way to Dev and whispered into his ear.

"Eight of V's boys were knicked and four of them were dropped." Dev thought for a second and quietly responded, "Chos Thinn?" Jeb solemnly nodded. Dev sighed and said, "Tell her." Jeb nodded and slowly made his way to V and whispered the news to her. Dev immediately was lost in his thoughts as he pondered about Chos Thinn. The guy was certainly going to do everything in his power to put every rebel in the ground.
